  • Seven Woodlake UMC members served on the mission trip May 24 2025, to provide construction work on a home for an impoverished family in Guatemala in partnership with Porch de Salomon. We appreciate the kind support of Woodlake UMC members like you for the donations and monetary gifts! Thank you!

  • As part of our 2023 Christmas offering, Woodlake set a goal to raise $8,000 to build a home for an impoverished family in Guatemala in partnership with Porch de Salomon. After reaching our goal, thirteen Woodlake UMC members travelled to Panajachel, Guatemala on April 6 and made our mission a reality. We would not have been able to complete this project without the kind support of Woodlake UMC members like you! Thank you!

Mission Trip

Woodlake UMC is planning once again to send a mission team to serve with Porch de Salomon in Panajachel, Guatemala in 2027.  The team will focus on a home-building project for an impoverished indigenous family in the Lake Atitlan basin area of the western highlands. The team also will engage in educational activities with children in the local community and residents of a daycare center for the elderly.  No special skills are required. We recommend that team members be at least age 15, and minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The cost will be approximately $1700 per person, including air fare, lodging, meals, and in-country transportation.

Hinton Appalachian Mission Trip

Join a mission team that completes small construction projects for impoverished families through the UMC Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, NC. This is the only domestic, out-of-state family mission trip sponsored by Woodlake UMC. It is an ideal trip for parents to serve with their children in mission. Children under age 12 must have a parent attend, and children must be old enough to perform small construction tasks for 6 to 8 hours per day with limited supervision.

Project Agape

Project Agape is a long-standing United Methodist mission partnership in Armenia focused on rebuilding homes, supporting displaced families, and offering hope through practical service and Christian witness. Its work connects closely with Woodlake’s mission priorities around food insecurity and vulnerable children by helping meet basic needs, strengthen families, and care for those most at risk. This info session will introduce the ministry, share the impact of the trip, and help Serve discern whether this could become a meaningful international mission opportunity for our church. The minimum age to attend is 15 with a guardian or person designated by the guardian to accompany the youth. This trip is expected to take place in October of 2027.
