What is Woodlake Kids?

Woodlake Kids is the children’s ministry of Woodlake UMC for children ages birth through 5th grade.  Each child who comes through our doors is important to us and will be cared for by loving staff and volunteers who seek to connect with them and their families.  Children will be taught to explore their faith while learning what it means to take their next step in following Jesus.

Follow our weekly WoodlakeKids News emails for updates to these activities.

Mission of the Month

Reverse Advent Calendar

Let’s celebrate Advent in reverse this year!  What does this mean, you ask?  Reverse Advent is a wonderfully special idea for our children and their families to give back this Christmas season.  When you think of an Advent Calendar, you think of a countdown to Christmas with a small ornament or piece of chocolate.  With a reverse Advent calendar the focus is back on Jesus and his teachings about giving to others.  The idea is to get a sturdy basket, box, or bag and each day gather and place the food item listed on the calendar.  This provides an opportunity for your child and family to talk about and pray for those who are less fortunate then we are.  On Christmas Eve when the food box is filled, drop it off in the front of WUMC or deliver to the food pantry of your choice.

Holiday Storytime

Candy canes, twinkling lights and the smell of cookies baking in the oven must mean that Christmas is upon us.  Its is also a time that we think about the story of a manger, wisemen, a bright star in the sky and the birth of a very special baby.  We would like to celebrate the season of Advent by offering “25 Days of Christmas StoryTime” for our preschoolers.  The idea is that each day of Advent we will have a special Christmas story online read by different people. This will be just like the Storytime we have had all year on our Facebook page each day at 10 am.  What fun it will be to listen to a new Christmas book each day read by some of your friends from church!
