Duties include: Directing cars to available spaces and worshippers to appropriate entrance.  Time Commitment – 30 minutes prior to 9:30 or 11:00 service once a month

Duties include: Setup and make coffee, greeting worshippers after service, cleaning up and packing up all supplies after coffee “hour”. Time commitment – 1 ½ hours starting at 9:30 or 11:00 once a month

Duties include: Greeting and welcoming everyone with a smile.  Will be stationed at the front doors and mid-hallway to guide folks to the nurseries, children’s worship, bathrooms and auditorium. Time commitment – 30 minutes before 9:30 or 11:00 service once a month

Duties include: Passing out bulletins and kidZone coloring bags, collecting offering, picking up leftover bulletins/trash in isles and hallway, packing up usher/greeter tub. Time commitment – about two hours starting at 9:00 or 10:30 once a month

This position involves removing equipment from Cosby and loading in the equipment trailer.  Duties would include transporting equipment (lifting, carrying, rolling, etc.) as well as some take down (tables, cribs, etc.).  Time Commitment – 2 hours each Sunday after 11:00 service.  Time commitment will decrease as new team members are trained and integrated. 

This position involves planning, coordinating and/or implementing events relating to the opening of our new discipleship building and worship at Cosby, such as Open House, Grand Opening, etc.  Time Commitment – Meet as needed (once or twice a month) leading up to the event in March 2008.

Take Down Teams
This position involves breaking down and preparing the equipment for the Load-out team in one of four areas – Worship, Hospitality, Nursery and KidZworship. Time Commitment – 2 hours each Sunday after 11:00 service.  Time commitment will decrease as new team members are trained and integrated.  Duties would include one or more of the following:  

Teach and encourage children between ages 5 and 11 in the sport of soccer.  Time Commitment – an eight-week season in the spring or fall of ’08.  One practice on a weekday, plus one game on Saturday.   

Manage the upkeep of the playing field and equipment for Spring and Fall ’08 soccer seasons.  Time Commitment – As needed during the months of April, May, September and October.

Assist a special needs child in his/her effort to participate in Sunday afternoon soccer games with other special needs children and youth.  Time Commitment – Games held at WUMC – Hampton Park campus on Sunday afternoons.

Assist with set-up, registration and support of Sunday afternoon soccer games for special needs children and youth.  Time Commitment – Games held at WUMC – Hampton Park campus on Sunday afternoons.

Woodlake Adult Choir or Contemporary Choir

Practices periodically and participates in worship about four times a year.  Time Commitment – Rehearsal time and performances on an as needed basis.

Assist acolytes in performing their duties during the 9:30 or 11:00 services on Sundays.  Time Commitment – 5 minutes at the beginning and end of the 9:30 or 11:00 service each weekend.

Complement seasonal themes through the use of art, banners, pictures and other visual aids throughout the Sanctuary and Narthex.  Time Commitment – Meets once a month and works on projects on an as needed basis.

Work with a team to ensure that Altar flowers are delivered to the Sanctuary when needed.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Prepare and participate in occasional presentations in worship services on either Saturday or Sunday.  Time Commitment – Rehearsal time involved and performance during services at time of event

Assist in worship skits and/or make costumes and props for worship skits.  Time Commitment – As needed basis

Meet monthly to plan and coordinate ways to help people get connected in meaningful, spirit-filled service to God.  Call new members during their first year to ensure their connection to their ministries of choice.  Conduct 30-minute “Get Plugged In” interviews with interested persons.  Educate individuals about spiritual gifts.  Utilize the church database to facilitate matching persons to ministry opportunities.  Time Commitment – meets 1 hour a month and performs other duties on an as needed basis. 

Meet monthly to plan and coordinate programs and events that welcome new people into the WUMC family.  Time Commitment – meets 1 hour a month and performs other duties on an as needed basis. 

On Sunday afternoons, in pairs, briefly visit the homes of first-time visitors to the weekend worship services.  Provide a small gift from the church, a welcome folder and an invitation to return to church soon.  Time Commitment – 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon once a month.

Make welcome calls to visitors to church and check on inactive members.    Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Actively seek out visitors during worship, learn their names and introduce them to at least one other family and one of the pastors.  Invite visitors back to worship again and to attend a church program.  Time Commitment – Before and after a service, once a month. 

Hospitality Team

Help plan and coordinate three to four church-wide fellowship events each year.  Time Commitment – As needed basis leading up to an event.

Confidential ministry team that receive via e-mail, weekly and as needed, prayer concerns offered by the congregation and pray at least daily for these concerns.  Time Commitment – Daily time commitment to prayer.

Opportunity to serve as scripture reader, communion server, greeter, or musician/singer. Also need assistants to help setup and take down tables/chairs in the Sanctuary.    Time Commitment – 2 hours every Tuesday or as schedule permits.

Volunteers assist with food preparation, serving and/or clean up.  Time Commitment – 2 hours every Tuesday or as schedule permits.

Provide meals for families during times of need such as illness, grief, etc.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

This ministry involves knitting or crocheting prayer shawls, praying over them and delivering them to the recipients.  Time Commitment – Meets twice a month for 1 hour each.

Take consecrated elements to the home, facility or hospital of those unable to participate in Communion during worship on the first Sunday of every month. Requires a one hour training session.  Time Commitment – Dependent on number of persons receiving Communion, once a month or as schedule permits.

Volunteers would ideally have a background of working with individuals with disability and/or have gifts of mercy, helping, or encouragement.  Many options for serving on this team with all or specific age groups.  Time Commitment – Meets once a month for 1 hour. 

Provide leadership and vision for Children’s Ministry programs:  Nurseries, KidZworship, SundayZcool, music, Vacation Bible School and mission projects.  Activities include ministry promotion, family-oriented planning and recruitment of helpers.  Time Commitment – meets the first Sunday of every month for 1 hour.

Assist children’s choir teacher while working with Kindergarten-3rd graders.  Time Commitment – 1 hour every Wednesday.

Assist in planning and carrying out the 2-day Virginia Conference Mission event scheduled every July at WUMC.  Time Commitment – meet as needed during 2 months leading up to event.

Planning and support team for MOPS group.  Time Commitment – meets once a month for 1 hour.

Outreach ministry caring for parents of newborns.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Deliver stork yard signs and nursery gift packets to the parents of newborns.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Paid and volunteer positions available. Care for children in nursery during weekday programming.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Care for children in nursery during special worship times, i.e., Ash Wednesday.  Time Commitment – As needed basis.

Youth or adult to assist Jr. KidZworship leader in teaching four and five-year-olds during Sunday worship.  Time Commitment – 1 hour during the 9:30 or 11:00 service.

Assist staff of W.O.W. in mentoring fourth through sixth graders to become worship leaders for KidZworship.  Time Commitment – 1 hour on Wednesdays, once a month.

Prepare education materials, provide supervision for outings and serve as positive role model. 

Adult that can serve regularly during the week to help keep this dynamic and fun filled ministry running smoothly. Basic organizational skills are important. Time Commitment – Flexible position based on your weekly schedule.

Play games and hanging out with teens during the First Fruits Prayer Service.  Time Commitment – Tuesdays 6:45 - 7:45 pm.

Commit to study and journey together with our teens and help them find answers to life’s questions.  Time Commitment – 1 hour prep time, facilitate Sundays 3:30-5:00 pm.

A ministry where we take skateboarders in the community to the Manchester YMCA. Come and simply hang out.  Transportation provided via church bus.  Time Commitment – every Tuesday from 2:30-5:30 pm.

A fellowship group just for girls. The middle school group meets at the church and does cooking, crafts and holiday projects, etc. The high school group meets for coffee.  Adult women mentors are needed for this group.  Time Commitment – 1 hour every Thursday.

A fellowship group just for boys with planned activities such as throwing footballs, shooting hoops, going to the driving range, or playing video games with other guys.  Adult men mentors are needed for this group.  Time Commitment – 1 hour every Thursday.

If you play an instrument or would like to share sing during the youth service worship time please let us know.  Time Commitment – Rehearsal time and 1 hour performing during service every Sunday evening.
