Prayer Ministry
“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
James 5:13-16

Prayer Requests
The Prayer Ministry Team prays daily for the needs of our world, our country, our community, our church and individuals. The team receives prayer requests each week via email. We value your privacy and take careful measures to protect it. Prayer request cards are available during every worship service in the friendship pads, in the locked prayer request boxes found at the Welcome Center of the Woodlake campus and in the foyer of the Hampton Park campus. You may also request prayer using our online prayer request form or by contacting the Director of Congregational Care.
Intercessory Prayer Team
Are you called to pray for Woodlake UMC, it’s leadership and ministries? Please join our team of individuals who pray before/and or during the first 15 minutes of each worship service – in a quiet location near the sanctuary. To volunteer please contact the Director of Congregational Care. Download the Intercessory Prayer Guide here.
Prayer Retreat
Each year Woodlake UMC will offer a prayer retreat that focuses on learning how to pray in personal and group prayer time. This retreat is coordinated by the Director of Congregational Care.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
If you are able to knit, crotchet or sew, please use these gifts as a part of your prayer life! The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls and blankets used by the Pastoral Care Team to bring comfort to those experiencing a hospitalization or crisis. If you are unable to attend the group meetings, you may still participate using the devotions to explore the combination of knitting, crocheting, sewing and prayer. Click here to download the prayer shawl knitting devotions and basic patterns. The Prayer Shawl Ministry Team meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 4:00 pm at the Woodlake campus. Please contact the Director of Congregational Care who will connect you with the ministry facilitator, Patsy P.
Prayer Beads Ministry
The Prayer Beads Ministry puts together Anglican Prayer beads which are given to those experiencing a hospitalization or crisis. These beads assist the recipient to focus on prayer. Since the earliest of times, people have used pebbles or a string of knots or beads on a cord to keep track of prayers offered to God. Virtually every major religious tradition in the world uses some form of prayer beads. If you are unable to attend the group meetings, you may still participate using the devotions to explore the combination of creating prayer beads and prayer. Click here to download the Prayer Bead instructions. Please contact the Director of Congregational Care who will connect you with the ministry facilitator, Michele M.
