Children's Ministry Team Meeting

All are welcome to join the Children's Ministry Team meeting on the first Sunday of every month at 9:30 AM in the Woodlake Child Development Center, building #1. Please contact Beth Christian for more information. Each month, the team discusses and plans for upcoming events.  Hope to see you there!

Opportunities to Serve

  • Children's Ministry office volunteers needed 1-2 hours a week.
  • We also need a person who can assist in different rooms at SundayZcool each week.

The GrowZone Nursery - Check It Out!

Our co-op nurseries are for children ages birth through 3 years of age. A loving, secure, clean environment is available during each of our regular weekly worship services. We are blessed with some very special people who serve in the nursery on a weekly basis. They are helped by a monthly rotation of parents who use the nursery. Each nursery is enhanced with Christian hands-on activities and lessons. Questions? Contact the GrowZone Nursery Coordinator, Linda Chapman.

Great Beginnings Ministry

Our Great Beginnings Ministry supports young children and their families. Are you expecting or adopting, celebrating the birth of a child, or celebrating a baptism? Or, would you like to be a part of the team who supports those folks who are? Then the Great Beginnings Ministry Team is for you! You can find brochures/sign-up forms in the Welcome Center. Questions, contact Linda Chapman, Nursery Coordinator.

Acolyte Ministry

The Acolyte program at WUMC is open to any 4th or 5th grade boy or girl. Acolytes are part of the 9:30am and 11:00 AM Sunday services where they carry the pastor's Bible to the altar and light the altar candles, all while supervised by an adult.  If your son or daughter is interested in participating in our church services in this way, please email Ginny Youngblood or call 739-3350 after 6:30 PM.

5th Grade Movin' On Up Retreat

The Movin' On Up Retreat is an overnight trip to the United Methodist Assembly Center, held every March for rising 6th graders.  5th grade and elementary school will soon be behind them.  Is your child ready for middle school?  Is middle school ready for them?  At the retreat, we'll take some time to talk about what to expect as this special group of 5th graders "Moves On Up" to middle school!  Stay tuned for sign-ups as February approaches!

Created By God: A Christian approach to learning about human sexuality

An Event for 5th - 6th Graders and their Parents held every January.  Created by God is a study of human sexuality with a Christian foundation. It will offer the students and their parents an opportunity to learn, grow, and celebrate the fact that we have been wonderfully created by God, and are called to responsible living as sexual beings.  This involves a major time commitment on the part of parents and students, but the benefit will be well worth the investment. In addition to providing an arena where accurate information and proper terminology can be gained and practiced, the students involved will better understand how their sexuality fits into God’s plan for human relationships. Using a highly interactive approach to learning, Created by God is also a lot of fun for everyone involved.  As much fun as this experience promises to be, we don’t expect the young people to be doing back-flips when approached about participating in this event. Don’t give in to the resistance. This is something needed by parents and growing children to improve understanding and communication.  Sessions are conducted by Rev. Dr. Peter Moon; Senior Pastor, Kris Coleman; Dir. Youth Ministries and Beth Christian; Dir. Children’s Ministries.
