KidZworship Needs YOU!

We have a ministry opportunity for a few special people that is fun, very rewarding, and takes just one hour a month!  Have you seen the number of kids who come forward for the children’s message every Sunday?  We are excited that God has entrusted us with all of these children for their spiritual development.  One of the reason’s they are here is for our dynamic KidZworship experience.  Join our team who help support Ms. Barbara and Mr. Berkley as they lead KidZworship.  Be the extra eyes and ears that we need to keep our children safe and experience a very special time with these wonderful kids.  We have immediate gaps in the schedule to fill for December.  Open to all 16 yrs and older.  Please contact Jennifer Rose to sign up at jrose@woodlakeumc.org.

Every September, the Children's Ministry gives every third grader in church a Bible!  You do not need to be a member of the church to receive a Bible.  However, we do request you choose a service to attend for the presentation.

Upward Ministry
We’re excited to announce that WUMC offers the Upward soccer program for Kindergarten - 5th grade boys & girls.  Upward is an evangelistic sports ministry specifically designed to promote salvation, character, and self-esteem in every child.  Upward provides opportunities for all believers, no matter what denomination, to become meaningfully involved in the ministries of your church. They will have the opportunity to pray for your program, coach a team, referee a game, share a devotion, and develop relationships in order to open avenues of ministry to the people of your community who will participate in your program.
Click here for more information and to register your child!

For more information about Upward, visit www.upward.org.

Acolyte Ministry
Children can serve during the 9:30 or 11:00 am worship service!

Do your children wish to serve in worship?  What better way than through the Acolyte program at WUMC!  It is open to any 4th or 5th grade boy or girl. Acolytes are part of the 9:30am and 11:00 AM Sunday services where they carry the pastor's Bible to the altar and light the altar candles, all while supervised by an adult.  If your son or daughter is interested in becoming an acolyte, please email Debbie Allen.

We are also looking for Acolyte sponsors, typically parents of acolytes but not necessary.  Sponsors volunteer on a rotational basis to help get children ready at the beginning of their select service to carry out their duties (Ensure they are wearing their robe, have the Bible in hand and have their candle lighters lit.)  If you are interested in this volunteer position, contact Darren Raley, Worship Director at 739-4535, ext. 29.

Created By God
A Christian approach to learning about human sexuality.
Offered every March

Created By God is an event sponsored by KidZone Ministries for 5th - 6th graders and their parents.  It is a study of human sexuality with a Christian foundation. It will offer the students and their parents an opportunity to learn, grow, and celebrate the fact that we have been wonderfully created by God, and are called to responsible living as sexual beings.  This involves a major time commitment on the part of parents and students, but the benefit will be well worth the investment. In addition to providing an arena where accurate information and proper terminology can be gained and practiced, the students involved will better understand how their sexuality fits into God’s plan for human relationships.

Using a highly interactive approach to learning, Created by God is also a lot of fun for everyone involved.  As much fun as this experience promises to be, we don’t expect the young people to be doing back-flips when approached about participating in this event. Don’t give in to the resistance. This is something needed by parents and growing children to improve understanding and communication.  Sessions are conducted by the Senior Pastor, the Director of Youth Ministries and the Director of Children’s Ministries.  Be on the look out for sign ups every December!

5th Grade Movin' On Up Retreat
Offered every August!

The Movin' On Up Retreat is an overnight trip to the United Methodist Assembly Center, held every August for rising 6th graders.  5th grade and elementary school will soon be behind them.  Is your child ready for middle school?  Is middle school ready for them?  At the retreat, we'll take some time to talk about what to expect as this special group of 5th graders "Moves On Up" to middle school!  Stay tuned for sign-ups every February!
