DIRECTOR OF CONGREGATIONAL CARE

We are seeking a compassionate, Christ-centered  individual for our Director of Congregational Care position. This full- time position offers the opportunity to develop and coordinate the many ministries of the church that focus on meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the congregation.  The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, a desire to care for our congregation and community through difficult situations and  illnesses, a commitment to the power of prayer, the ability to grow a vibrant volunteer base, a servant leadership approach, and a flexible schedule.  Education and/or experience in nursing, social services, counseling or
related fields is preferred.

 

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES

After several years of great work, our Youth Director, Kris Coleman, will be moving to Arizona to pastor and plant his own congregation.  This is wonderful news, but it also means that we are now going to be searching for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for youth and a commitment to Christ to fill the position of Director of Youth Ministries.  The responsibilities of this full-time position include directing our current Tuesday night youth service, developing and coordinating faith-based programs and activities for both middle-school and high-school students, and providing opportunities for mission projects and retreats for youth.  The ideal candidate is called by God to facilitate faith formation in today’s youth community, is able to provide vision, encouragement and leadership to youth and parents, embraces a teamwork approach, and is committed to building a volunteer base to include youth, adults and mentors.  Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in religion, psychology, education or related field with experience in developing and leading Christian youth programs.

With the current state of our economy, there are a number of people looking for work. If you or someone you know is currently undergoing an employment transition, please join us for Career Connections.  This group can help you with job searches, building connections as well as offer support during this difficult time. Please join us for coffee and networking on Tuesday mornings from 7:30-9:00 a.m. in Room 101 at the Hampton Park Campus. NEEDLE'S EYE MINISTRIES

At Needle's Eye Ministries, they view themselves as bridge builders, serving as a spiritual connection between marketplace people and matters of faith. As such, they are not a church or a membership organization. The Career Transition Group meets Mondays & Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Needle’s Eye office. The group offers spiritual encouragement, networking, prayer and Bible study for those unemployed.

Career Prospectors is an organization serving the greater Richmond area, focused on helping people find job opportunities since 2003. Whether relocated, terminated, down sized, or are still working and looking for a new opportunity, all are welcome. 

 

VIRGINA CAREER NETWORK

The Virginia Career Network encourages networking as a strategy for finding unadvertised jobs, getting a leg up for landing advertised positions and simply, for developing strategic habits in your quest for future employment. Their intent is to help you bridge the layoff with your next job. They provide tools and techniques for you to meet the people who might actually be hiring you for that next position or influencing the hiring decision.

LINKEDIN (Networking for Professionals)

LinkedIn.com is a business-oriented social networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 mainly used for professional networking. As of March, 2009, it had more than 35 million registered users, spanning 170 industries.

 

INDEED (Job Search Engine)

Indeed.com is a search engine for jobs - with a radically different approach to job search.  In one simple search, Indeed gives job seekers free access to millions of employment opportunities from thousands of websites. Indeed.com includes all the job listings from major job boards, newspapers, associations and company career pages - and they continue to add new sites every day.

 

CRAIGSLIST

Craigslist.com consists of local classifieds and forums for more than 550 cities in over 50 countries worldwide - community moderated, and largely free.  You can find, among other things: jobs, housing, goods, and services.

 

RICHMOND JOBNET

RichmondJobNet.com is an on-line career resource center for individuals interested in starting or advancing their career in the Greater Richmond region.  The site was developed by the Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. in response to unprecedented economic changes in our community and the growing need to help job seekers connect with local employment opportunities.  The site is organized to simplify the job search process using a comprehensive listing of area job boards, tools and tips for job seekers including resume, cover letter and interview preparation.

WUMC BEFRIENDER MINISTRY

BeFrienders is a nationally organized program that offers a confidential, supportive, and caring presence of specially trained congregational volunteers during times of difficulties.  For more information, please click here.

 

WUMC PRAYER TEAM

Prayer Team at Woodlake UMC is a confidential ministry team that receives weekly and emergent prayer concerns offered by the congregation and pray at least daily for these concerns.  To send a prayer request to our Pastoral or Prayer Team, click here.
