Director of Congregational Care

WUMC is seeking an individual for our Director of Congregational Care position. This part time position works with other healing ministries staff to lead our prayer ministry, all our caring ministries, many of our relational ministries and assists with pastoral care of the congregation.     • communicating requests for prayer to the email prayer team, staff and First Fruits service – need to react same day
    • plan and implement special prayer events – (i.e. Overnight prayer retreats, World Day of Prayer event)
    • coordinate distribution of acts of caring such as prayer shawls, meals in the home across time, additional home assistance as indicated, calls and visits
    • hospital visits both preoperatively (can be very early in the morning!) and throughout episode of illness – can require travel both around the metro Richmond area and beyond (Charlottesville, NYC, Duke, Johns Hopkins) – this is shared with ministry staff
    • assigning BeFrienders
    • praying with those in distress
    • assisting with ministry planning for men’s ministry and women’s ministry
    • completing BeFriender training
    • communicating with other ministry areas about the needs of their ministry volunteers
    • assisting with worship planning and fellowship activities of First Fruits
    • setting aside your plan for the day to respond to emergencies in the life of the congregation

You will work collaboratively with an assistant director of congregational care, a pastoral care associate who takes primary responsibility for men’s ministry, a hospitality coordinator for First Fruits fellowship and pastoral staff. Your paid work hours are 15 hours per week. 

Administrative Coordinator

Responsibilities include:

    • Greet and direct people coming in the office
    • Answering and directing phone calls
    • Maintaining office supplies and equipment
    • Administering church database system
    • Preparing correspondence
    • Coordinating travel
    • Works with all staff
    • Reports to Pam Johnston
    • Schedule senior pastor’s appointments
    • Keep church records [attendance, membership, baptisms, etc.]
    • Assist with prayer requests, bulletins
    • Prepare and send out mailings to congregation, committees, etc.
    • Keep lists updated and notify weekly volunteers of duties:  scripture readers, greeters, etc.
    • Other general administrative duties.
